Johnny Depp will provide his famed voice as Johnny Puff on a new animated series titled Puffins.

The cartoon will primarily air through movies formats in five-minute increments, Variety reported Monday, noting that 250 episodes of the short-form cartoon are in the works.

Puffins will focus on a set of birds who are in the servitude of a walrus named Otto.

The cartoon is being produced by Iervolino Entertainment, a company owned by producer Andrea Iervolino and Monika Bacardi.

‘Themes such as gender and race equality and environmental protection’ will be presented in a way that ‘will promote positive messaging,’ according to a statement from Iervolino.

It’s the latest professional move for the 57-year-old actor, who’s also in a musical outfit called The Hollywood Vampires with rock icons Alice Cooper and Joe Perry.

The Italian company previously worked with Depp on Waiting for the Barbarians, which co-stars Robert Pattinson and Mark Rylance and is directed by Ciro Guerra.

The film is headed for a digital release amid ongoing complications with theaters amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Andrea Iervolino said his company was ‘so happy to reunite with Johnny for a second project,’ commending the broad horizons of the actor, who’s played iconic roles such as Edward Scissorhands, Willy Wonka and Jack Sparrow.

‘Experiencing a new and avant-garde project like this short series, alongside Johnny, has given me even more conviction to champion experimental genre and format fusions,’ Iervolino said. ‘I am beyond grateful that Johnny has shown belief in the project … sharing his thoughtful artistic ideas that are providing real added value to the Puffins universe.’
