MasterChef judge Jock Zonfrillo makes shock claim that Adelaide is the ‘home of the schnitzel’

Jock Zonfrillo has made a rather controversial culinary declaration. 

The MasterChef judge claimed that Adelaide is the ‘home of the schnitzel’ in a teaser clip from upcoming episode. 

He said to cook Aaron Sanders during a challenge: ‘You’re from Adelaide, I mean arguably home of the schnitty.’

Shocked fellow judge Andy Allen quipped in response: ‘Adelaide is the home of the schnitzel?’

‘I’ve never seen so many schnitzels in restaurants and pubs in any other state than Adelaide,’ Jock insisted. 

The chicken schnitzel is a staple lunch and dinner dish in pubs all around Australia.

It’s not the only controversial food opinion Jock has expressed of late, after he entered the heated debate over which Arnott’s biscuit is the best. 

Appearing on The Sunday Project, the chef was asked to pick a favourite between the Kingston and the Monte Carlo.

Jock first tried the Kingston, digging in and commenting: ‘I like it, chocolate-y, nutty, good’.

He then took a bite of the Monte Carlo, before spitting it out and crying out, ‘Oh no, no thank you!’ 

The Glasgow-born chef declared the Kingston the winner, but said he ultimately preferred Tunnock’s Tea Cakes, a Scottish brand of chocolate biscuit.
