An Xscape and SWV showdown is happening.
After months of speculation surrounding a Verzuz battle between the two groups, Xscape’s LaTocha Scott confirmed her group is indeed going head-to-head with SWV.
‘We’re getting ready to do this Verzuz battle with Xscape and SWV! It’s going down May 8th,’ LaTocha told TMZ while in New York on Wednesday.

LaTocha confirmed the battle would involve all four members of Xscape, Kandi Burruss, Tameka ‘Tiny’ Harris, Tamika Scott, and herself.
‘Everybody’s been asking about it, do you feel me? And so when they asking, we’re ready. We’re never going down from a battle, so we’re ready for it. It’s great for the culture, you understand what I’m saying. It’s going to big y’all! It’s going to be epic!’
Asked who proposed to make the Xscape Verzuz SWV battle happen, she said they listened to their fans.
‘Everybody was saying it, they were all fans. They were voting for SWV. At first we were thinking like a girl group versus a guy group, like Jodeci. But SWV just stood out. We’re all just sisters with voices about to make it happen.’

For months, fans have been wondering if a Verzuz battle between the two R&B groups would be happening – and this confirmation is certain to delight them.
Kandi got people talking in December 2020 when she posted video of SWV member LeLee Leyons at the studio with Xscape.
‘Should SWV & XSCAPE do a verzuz?’ she asked in the caption, setting off interest in a potential battle.

Launched last year by Timbaland and Swizz Beats, the Verzuz series sees two popular acts go head-to-head with their musical talents.
The competition has so far seen Timbaland take on Swizz, Brandy v. Monica, and others.
Many of the identities of future acts appearing in the Verzuz series have yet to be revealed.
Posters advertising future events have blurred out the names of numerous upcoming artists, including Xscape and SWV.
Though a majority of the upcoming battles have remained a secret, the Verzuz series is promising several can’t-miss showdowns in the future.
On April 4th, The Isley Brothers will go head-to-head with Earth, Wind & Fire, and on April 20th Redman will take on Method Man.
