‘Smoking hot wife’ writes viral obituary for her ‘dead sexy’ husband

A Nebraska man’s obituary has gone viral after his wife insisted that his cause of death was being ‘dead sexy.’

Eric A. Sauser, 43, passed away from leukemia ate the age of 43 on February 26, 2021, but his wife Crystal Sauser, 39 is bringing joy and laughter to friends, family, and internet strangers with the humorous obituary she wrote for him.

In the tribute, she describes herself as the ‘smoking hot wife’ he left behind, saying that the loving father and friend succumbed to being ‘dead sexy’ — and that mourners should celebrated his life by ‘jamming out to Ozzy Osborne and raising a cold beer.’

Eric’s obituary describes him as ‘Super Dad’ and ‘just a rockin’ dude from Omaha.’

‘His departure was just in time for him to make his spiritual appearance at every Red Sox spring game,’ it went on.

It says he was survived by his ‘smoking hot wife’ Crystal and his ‘brilliant’ children Amelia, Violet and Benjamin, as well as his parents, his sister and ‘aunt extraordinaire’ to his children, and his freinds.

‘He is preceded in death by billions, including his dog Harvey, who most of us loved to hate. We are confident they are joyfully reconnecting right now, ‘ it continued.

Things he loved included ‘the Boston Red Sox, the Kansas City Chiefs (before being a Chiefs fan was cool), the Huskers, Liverpool Futbol, QT iced tea, Adidas sneakers, fishing, backpacking, hiking, hunting, and any old Chevy he saw on the road’.

Eric hated ‘sad stories, beets, romantic comedies, a snow packed driveway and turning off the garage light’ — but ‘that’s it. Eric was content with most everything else.’ 

‘We are not positive, but we think the cause of death was either leukemia or more likely being “dead sexy,” the obit continued. ‘Eric, we’ve always loved you and miss you already.’

The message concluded with an invitation to the funeral, which occurred in early March.

‘Admission is free to all who attend this once in a lifetime show for the greatest man on earth. Following the Service, the family requests jamming out to Ozzy Osborne and raising a cold beer (preferably Busch Light) in celebration of Eric’s life.

‘In lieu of flowers, please pray that the Huskers have a winning season, or send a donation to in Eric’s name. He would appreciate either or both,’ it concluded.

Speaking to CNN, Crystal said it was easy to write such a fun obituary for someone so well-loved.

‘For me, to be able to put him out into the world again was so special. It was a chance to share who he was, so people knew he wasn’t just some sick dude,’ she said.

Eric was diagnosed with cancer in 2018, and when he was really struggling, his wife would make sure he knew how much she loved him.

‘I would say, “You’re so sexy,”‘ she said. ‘He would always be like, “That is so annoying.” 

‘At the end of the day, my commitment was that I would never stop loving him,’ she said. ‘He needed to know it wasn’t materialistic — that I thought he was dead sexy for him, for who he was.’

When he died, Crystal joked to the nurses that they should write ‘dead sexy’ as the cause of death on his death certificate.

Now that she’s printed it for all the world to see, she things her husband would be embarrassed but secretly pleased. 

Of the attention surrounding Sauser’s obituary, she said Eric would be embarrassed — but secretly loving it.

‘He loved a chance to be a showboat. He loved to dance. He would wait until everybody was sitting down, and then he would quietly get up and start dancing just so everyone could watch him,’ she said.
