Paloma has spoken openly about her struggles with mental health, and will explore the subject in her new documentary.

The BBC show will see her navigate balancing the demands of her music, launching an acting career and being a mum.

The documentary will also explore the hitmaker’s difficulties in getting pregnant for a second time after six rounds of IVF, as it takes a deep dive into the star’s life behind the scenes.

Paloma, who has a four-year-old daughter with boyfriend Leyman Lahcine, worked with director Jane Mingay over the course of a year on the film.

Earlier this month, the mother-of-two gave the latest candid update on her postpartum journey in her Instagram diary.

In the latest post, she uploaded a stunning selfie with her newborn laying on her chest.

She reflected on how her career would work as a new mother and admitted that she ‘loves’ her career but is working out how to fine balance.

Last week, Paloma spoke about her IVF battle and how it took lockdown and the prospect of doing nothing to encourage her to give IVF another go.

The sixth round proved to be successful, with Paloma discussing the journey as she told the Sunday People: ‘I feel like you know for yourself what your boundaries are and I actually knew I’d had enough after three goes…

‘Then lockdown happened and I thought, “What else am I going to do?”. I’ll have another go – and then it worked. It’s a little bit stressful thinking, “Will it or won’t it work?” But I feel really lucky I’ve got the career I’ve got because I’m always busy.’

The New York hitmaker went on to say how the most stressful part of the procedure was the two week wait after the embryo was put in.

Paloma said she kept her mind busy during the time by working on her fifth album, Infinite Things.

The songstress also talked about the labour of her eldest daughter, now four, and said ‘everything went wrong’ and described it as a ‘big bloody mess’.

Paloma said her daughter came early and how she was ‘sort of carved up a bit’ following the traumatic birth so she welcomed her second daughter by C-section.

Paloma Faith: As I Am airs on BBC Two and iPlayer on Saturday at 9pm.
