Three Girls actress Molly, who plays lab technician Emma Hedges, seemed relaxed as she smiled and chatted with her co-star.

She donned a grey jacket and black trousers paired with a bright pink and purple shirt for the scene.

Molly tied her blonde locks back into a high ponytail and could be seen toting a pair of black boots in a clear plastic bag, just like Laura.

Breaking Bad and The Missing star Laura, who plays Professor of Forensic Chemistry Sarah Gordon in Traces, also looked every inch the professional in a navy coat.

She paired her jacket with a pair of smart trousers and a patterned top, tying her brunette locks back to complete her work-ready ensemble.

As they worked on the outdoor scene, Laura could be seen sipping on a hot drink while holding onto a blue face mask and laughing with her co-star.

The series also features Line of Duty star Martin Compston, as character Daniel, however he was not seen at the shoot in Cheshire on Monday.

Traces was first shown in 2019 on Alibi, however 6.7 million tuned in to watch the first episode of the six-part series when it aired on the BBC, reports the Radio Times.

Series two is set to be just as dramatic and intriguing as season one, with the team working on a series of bombings rather than a single murder.

Albi said: ‘Audiences will be reunited with the forensic team as they work to uncover the criminal responsible for a string of bombings in Dundee.

‘Tensions in the city mount as people begin to anticipate when and where the next bombing will take place.’

Molly, who has previously been seen in acclaimed ITV thriller Cheat, stars as Emma, a lab assistant with a dark past.

In the first season she was seen trying to solve her own mother’s murder after signing up to an online course which featured the murder as a case study.

She then speaks to Laura’s character Sarah and You Me Her actress Jennifer Spence who plays professor of forensic anthropology Kathy Torrance for help.

The first series also featured Laurie Brett, Vincent Regan, Michael Nardone and John Gordon Sinclair.

As well as its writer Amelia, Traces is being made by an all-female production team with directors Rebecca Gatward and Mary Nighy at the helm of the project.

The show is based on an original idea by best-selling crime writer Val McDermid.
