English rose! Kate Middleton stuns in baby pink jumper from brand Boden

Kate Middleton has shown her support for the British high street during the coronavirus pandemic by donning a £65 pink jumper from Boden for her first in-person engagement this year.

The Duchess of Cambridge, 39, who has returned to the capital after spending lockdown in Norfolk with Prince William, 38, and their three children Prince George, seven, Princess Charlotte, five, and Prince Louis, two, visited a school in east London today to promote a mental health programme for children.

The mother-of-three cut a stylish figure as she paired a bright pink jumper with a £389 blush coat from Max and Co.

She finished her outfit with £130 high-waisted Jigsaw trousers, which she first wore during a visit to the Henry Fawcett Childrens Centre in Lambeth in 2019.

The mother-of-three swept her hair in a bouncy pony tail, and kept her make up natural for the occasion.

The royal completed her bold outfit with a simple black belt and black handbag.

Perfect for the winter to spring transition, Kate’s scallop hemmed jumper is described online as cosy yet ‘extra feminine’.

It features scalloped detailing at the neckline and cuffs, as well as a ‘sophisticated semi-fitted shape.’

While known as a quintessentially British brand, it may also have been chosen by the Duchess for its credentials in sustainability.

The brand has proved itself to be a favourite of the Duchess during the coronavirus pandemic.

In May, the royal selected a £120 baby blue wrap dress from the label for a virtual visit to a maternity ward.

Meanwhile in August, photographs were released of the Duchess wearing for a £112 green shirt dress from Boden as she made a private visit to a baby bank.

The cardigan is not the only British label the royal wore during the virtual appearance.

The mother-of-three paired the pink ensemble with her pair of Jigsaw wide-leg trousers, which have become a fast favourite in her wardrobe.

Throughout the pandemic, the Duchess has been flying the flag for British brands by opting for High Street stalwarts and independent labels.

Last year, stylists told FEMAIL Kate’s lockdown wardrobe is not only impeccably stylish and practical, but as a way of showing her dedication to her royal duties.

Susie said that Kate had a clear message with her outfit choices during the lockdown, saying: ‘By choosing to wear outfits from home-made brands, she is supporting, and putting her weight behind, an industry which is currently struggling.

Today's outfit was remarkably similar to a fashion forward ensemble the royal wore last year when visiting a children's centre in London

Meanwhile the Duchess opted to recycle her wig-leg Jigsaw trousers for the visit, which have become a fashion favourite for the royal in recent years (pictured left, last March, and right in March 2019)

‘The message is that if these brands are good enough for the future queen to wear, it’s time for everyone else to follow suit and champion British-made too.’

The visit marks the first public appearance for the couple since Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s bombshell interview at the weekend.

The Cambridges are said to be deeply upset by the way they were attacked by the Sussexes, with Meghan accusing Kate of making her cry during a bridesmaid dress fitting ahead of the royal wedding.

And as a couple who has long campaigned on the issue of mental health, they will be finding allegations that Meghan was driven to consider suicide by her treatment by the family tough to swallow.

During today’s visit, William and Kate spoke to teachers about new mental health resources for schools and how they were adapting to the school’s re-opening this week.

The emphasis on mental health may feel prescient in the light of the Duchess of Sussex’s claims that the palace failed to help her when she was feeling suicidal, but most royal visits are planned months in advance.
