Pop singer claims she was paid just $17 for having her song featured on The Block – and reveals the track’s lyrics actually have a VERY racy meaning

Pop singer Holiday Sidewinder has revealed the paltry payment she received after her song was featured on The Block. 

In Twitter post made on Tuesday, the 30-year-old singer-songwriter shared a screen shot of her latest royalty payment for her track, Holiday Inn. 

It amounted to just $17.71 – but at least the performer was able to laugh about her minuscule payday.

She wrote: ‘Laughing so hard. A) Holiday Inn was used on home renovations TV show The Block. B) I got paid $17 for it.’ 

Holiday, whose full name is Holiday Sidewinder Carmen-Sparks, took it all in her stride – and revealed the song’s racy meaning, which may have slipped by the producers of the renovation show. 

‘I wonder if they realised it was about philandering and mutual masturbation,’ Holiday wrote in another Tweet.

She also shared a notification which informed her she did not need to invoice the company because the payment amount was under $100.    

‘It’s been a beautiful day stoked about my career choice,’ Holiday joked, adding: ‘Might get them to Western Union me that 20 bucks though’.

Star power: Holiday's full name is Holiday Sidewinder Carmen-Sparks. She hails from Sydney and her step-mother is Love My Way actress Claudia Karvan. She was previously the lead singer of indie band Bridezilla

The song Holiday Inn comes from the singer’s debut solo album, Forever or Whatever, which was released in October 2019.   

Holiday, who hails from from Sydney, was previously the lead singer of indie band Bridezilla between 2005 and 2013, before moving on to Los Angeles to pursue a solo career.

Her step-mother is Love My Way actress Claudia Karvan, 48, who is married to Holiday’s father Jeremy Sparks.
