Malin Andersson has discussed her suicide attempt after her one-month-old daughter Consy tragically passed away two years ago.

The Love Island star, 28, said she hit ‘rock bottom’ following the death of her baby and felt like she ‘didn’t have a purpose’.

In a moving interview with The Sun on Monday, she spoke about how at her ‘lowest point’ she woke up in A&E after attempting suicide.

The mental health campaigner lost both her mother, Consy-Gloria, 65, to stomach cancer in November 2017, and baby daughter within 14 months of each other.

Malin’s little girl Consy, named after her late mother, died in January 2019 from complications as a result of being born seven weeks premature.

She said: ‘I lost essentially all the love I ever had in my life in one hit. I was at my lowest point. There was nothing else I could do so I just surrendered.

‘I hit rock bottom. I didn’t want to be here any more and tried to overdose by taking lots of painkillers.

‘Then I woke up in A&E. I felt like I didn’t have a purpose, I felt like there was no point in me existing.’

The reality star previously spoke candidly about how she debated taking her own life in order to be with her daughter.

Speaking about the agony she went through on the Yahoo podcast White Wine Question Time in June 2019, Malin said: ‘When she passed away, I locked myself away for about three weeks. I just drank wine every night, I didn’t want to speak to anybody.

‘I was too scared to touch her, because of the wires and everything. I was slowly collecting tablets because I was thinking, “If she’s going to go, f***, I’m going too. Because what else have I got to live for here? I haven’t got a family to go back to.”‘

The past few years have been incredibly tough for Malin, as five months after her baby’s death she left her abusive boyfriend, who was later jailed.

However, two years on, she said she has allowed herself to heal and now wishes to shine a light on baby loss coming up to Mother’s Day.

She plans to visit her daughter’s grave, saying: ‘I won’t feel sorrow. I will speak to her and say, “Look how far I have come and look at what I am doing now”.’

Tom Kemp, 29, Consy’s father, was jailed at Aylesbury Crown Court in September last year, after admitting to actual bodily harm, which left the reality star ‘black and blue’.

And in January, her violent ex was freed from prison leaving the Love Islander to up the security on her London home.

The Sun reported that he has served three months of a ten month sentence and will  serve the remaining seven months of his term on Home Detention Curfew.

Malin previously accused her ‘narcissistic’ ex Kemp of being abusive in Instagram posts last year and shared pictures of herself with a cut cheek and bloodied nose.

But Kemp, from Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, denied the claims at the time, branding her a ‘liar with mental health issues’.

Malin and Kemp had an on-off romance, splitting briefly during her pregnancy, amid claims Kemp had been unfaithful to her, but reconciling shortly before the birth.

In March they split again, with Malin admitting it was better to end things between them as she and her partner struggled with their grief.

In October, Malin told how she believes the physical abuse Tom subjected her to while she was pregnant was a factor behind her daughter’s death at just one month old.

She revealed Kemp ‘slapped and punched’ her while she was six months pregnant, causing her to fall on her back and her stomach to hit the side of a bed.

Speaking to The Sun, Malin said she is convinced the incident contributed to Consy’s death as after a few days, she noticed she wasn’t moving around as much.

A month later, the movements reduced again and Malin insisted Kemp drive her to the hospital where doctors discovered Consy’s irregular heartbeat, leading her to have an emergency cesarean that day at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

She said: ‘When Tom threw me about, I’d tense my stomach so much, I could feel her pausing inside me. The doctors didn’t understand what happened to her, but I know in my heart.’
