Amelia Gray Hamlin opened up about her past battle with an eating disorder Monday as she spoke about what International Women’s Day means to her.
‘I struggled with an eating disorder when I was 14 and I’m so lucky that I came out of the other side of it,’ said the 19-year-old model. ‘I learned so many amazing things from it that I honestly wouldn’t take back.’
Amelia, who is linked to Keeping Up With the Kardashians star Scott Disick, 37, stressed a message of self-love and care on the prominent day.

‘I’ve never loved myself as much as I do now which is honestly so important, I think it’s the most important quality any woman can have it’s just self-love, self-respect, self-confidence and body positivity.’
Amelia, the daughter of LA Law alum Harry Hamlin, 69, and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Lisa Rinna, 57, opened up about the joys of femininity on the momentous day.
‘Today is #InternationalWomensDay, a day where we as women are celebrated,’ Amelia said. ‘We celebrate the power that being a woman comes with,’ as well as ‘the strength’ and ‘the perseverance.
Amelia continued: ‘We are reminded to be proud of our sexuality, to be proud of our bodies, and to challenge ourselves every day to love ourselves more and more. some days confidence comes easier, sometimes it’s a challenge, but if we all make a commitment to lift each other up, it will come more often.’

Amelia last year appeared on the podcast The Skinny Confidential Him and Her, where she said that her eating disorder developed amid an ‘awkward stage’ when she would analyze photos of herself.
Amelia said that she put her energies toward excessive exercise and a Master Cleanse lemonade diet amid the troubled time, while denying her problems to Rinna and older sister Delilah Belle Hamlin, 22.
She said that a doctors at UCLA told her that she was ‘going to be dead’ if she continued on the unhealthy path.
‘It could not have been a more uncomfortable vibe for me,’ she said. ‘He looked at me and he was like, “So, yeah, basically, at this rate in about four months you’re going to be 45 pounds and you’re going to be dead.”‘
