Married At First Sight star Sean Donnelly accuses the dating show of ‘creating hate’ after Channel Nine released an anti-bullying message

Married At First Sight star Sean Donnelly has called out Channel Nine for preaching an anti-bullying message while also portraying the show’s participants negatively.

The Adelaide publican, 41, who was paired with single mother Jo McPharlin on season five in 2018, accused the dating show of being as bad as the trolls.

Sean reposted Nine’s ‘message of love’ on Instagram Stories on Tuesday and wrote: ‘Well this is a f**ken joke surely you create the hate.’

Sean identified two Married At First Sight producers by name, but Daily Mail Australia cannot identify them for legal reasons.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Channel Nine for comment.

Sean’s post comes after Nine announced severe penalties for Instagram trolls ahead of this year’s Married At First Sight season premiere.

The network released a ‘message of love’ and said that abusive comments about the new brides and grooms on social media would result in users being blocked.

‘We all love watching MAFS and following the journey of the participants in Australia’s biggest social experiment,’ began a statement on the official Married At First Sight Instagram account, which has 365,000 followers. 

‘So let’s celebrate our couples, support and encourage them.

‘Comments on the official MAFS social accounts are moderated, and any that are offensive or personally attack participants or fellow MAFS viewers will not be tolerated.

‘Anyone who continually breaches the community guidelines will be blocked.’ 

The new participants have also disabled comments on their Instagram profiles.

Both her Instagram and YouTube accounts were flooded with cruel comments earlier this month, with one troll even calling her ‘a fake delusional narcissist’.
