Harry Potter star Tom Felton reveals his grandfather Nigel Anstey has a cameo in the Philosopher’s Stone as he reacts to the film with fans

Tom Felton has revealed his grandfather Nigel Anstey made a cameo in the franchise’s first film Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone.

The actor, 33, shared a reaction video to the film with fans last month, and was delighted when he saw the patriarch appearing as a Hogwarts professor during a quidditch match.

As he was seen onscreen, Tom gushed: ‘That’s my grandpa again! The guy with the beard. White beard! Huge beard right next to Lee Jordan. And there’s me again.

He then added: ‘It’s a family thing, mental! Mental!’

In another scene, which saw Professor Quirrell (Ian Hart) running into the Great Hall to inform the school of a Troll in the dungeon, Tom saw his grandfather sat next to Dumbledore (originally played by Richard Harris).

‘There’s my gramps! Oh my days it actually goes [over him]. There goes my gramps and then there’s me,’ he informed viewers.  

Nigel is a famed geophysicist, and made a number of major contributions to the understand of seismic explorations.

Tom has been keeping Harry Potter fans entertained during the coronavirus pandemic, as he has hosted a number of events online and reunited with his former co-stars in amusing videos.

One such video saw him and Jason Isaacs take part in a hilarious game of charades in a clip from the former’s Holiday Home Party special with Veeps in December.

The actor and his former co-star, 57, were left in hysterics as they competed in a game of charades using the mobile game Heads Up.

This isn’t the first time Tom and Jason have reunited, as the actor also took part in his on-screen son’s Home Party in November. 

In September, Jason shared a heartfelt tribute to his on-screen son Tom to mark his 33rd birthday.

The actor took to Twitter to post a throwback snap alongside the Draco Malfoy star, as he said Tom was ‘always a ray of light to me.’

Gushing about Tom, Jason wrote: ‘Holy hairy heroes son – you’re Jesus’s age today! In these strangest of dark days you’re always a ray of light to me.

Tom was delighted by the message from Jason, who played Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter franchise, and wrote back: ‘Love you dad x’ 

Draco and Lucius shared a strained relationship throughout the franchise as the teen felt conflicted over his loyalty to Voldermort and the Death Eaters, but it’s clear that the actors share a close friendship.
