In a new interview, the Loose Women star, 56, has revealed that she’s turned to ‘intuitive eating,’ after years of ‘disordered eating’ and ‘self-loathing.’

Nadia has opened up about how she has transformed her relationship with food and her body, admitting she previously wasted so much time: ‘hiding away, being ashamed or getting caught up in diet culture.’

The actress told The Sun that the start of 2021 is the first New Year in her entire adult life that she’s not been on a diet, and branded the achievement ‘so liberating’.

She confessed: ‘Every January I’d diet, lose weight and then I’d put it back on every time. So I’m really trying to get back to intuitive eating — it’s a ­complete revolution.’  

Nadia – who has previously discussed her battle with binge eating – said: ‘I want to be totally clear that I didn’t have a ­categorised eating disorder, I wasn’t bulimic, I wasn’t anorexic, but I had disordered eating, which so many people have.

The Eastenders actress explained that she’s trying to get away from having a ‘constant internal conversation’ about what she’ll allow herself to consume.

Looking back on times she’s experienced ‘terrible self-loathing,’ Nadia admitted: ‘You cannot believe how much of my life I’ve wasted hiding away, being ashamed or getting caught up in diet culture’ and insisted: ‘I like how I look with my weight.’

The star credits a 2017 underwear shoot for ITV’s Body Stories with her Loose Women co-stars for helping her to finally accept herself in the body she’s in.  

And although Nadia admits that she still has her ‘issues’ she insisted that she’s ‘got a different internal voice now.’

The Loose Women panellist explained that she now doesn’t restrict any foods, and doesn’t obsess over ‘what’s healthy or not.’

She revealed that her diet consists of everything from soups and veggie juices to burgers and chips. 

Nadia insisted that there a ‘no banned foods’ which means that there’s ‘no bingeing’ – she simply eats when she’s hungry and stops when she’s satisfied, safe in the knowledge that she can eat more later, if she so desires.
