Britney Spears’ social media team insists that the pop star is the one behind her Instagram

Fans of Britney Spears recently called out the pop star’s digital team at CrowdSurf for allegedly taking control of her Instagram and working against the #FreeBritney movement.

But CrowdSurf cofounder Cassie Petrey attempted to put the ‘inaccurate theories about how Britney’s social media operates’ to rest in a lengthy Instagram statement on Tuesday.

‘[Britney] has stated many times that she creates posts, but people continue to believed conspiracy theories over what Britney says over and over again,’ read one excerpt.

Rumors to rest? CrowdSurf cofounder Cassie Petrey attempted to put the ‘inaccurate theories about how Britney’s social media operates’ to rest in a lengthy Instagram statement on Tuesday

Petrey felt obligated to respond to the ‘conspiracy theories’ floating around the internet regarding the true intentions behind Britney’s social media posts.

She insisted in her statement that ‘Britney creates her own posts and writes her own captions for Instagram’ and that the Toxic hitmaker also ‘finds the google images, pinterest images, quotes, memes, and everything else herself.’

‘Nobody is suggesting any of that stuff to her,’ she added.

In order to to effectively quash the looming rumors and concerns, Petrey went on to address each ‘viral’ theory about Britney’s Instagram, individually.

First, Petrey discussed the ‘editing’ of Spears’ often unusual videos, such as her frequent living room dance clips or her posing sessions in her backyard.

‘[Spears] generally edits the videos herself. If a video she sends in is edited by her social media team, it’s because she gave specific instructions and asked for it to be edited that way. Then she sees it and decides if she wants to post it or not,’ she explained.

With the launch of the #FreeBritney movement in 2019, which aims at freeing the star from her 13 year conservatorship, many fans have begun seeking out clues in Britney’s posts.

Petrey emphasized that ‘Britney is not ‘asking for help’ or leaving secret messages in her social media,’ rather the superstar is ‘literally just living her life and trying to have fun on Instagram.’

Attempting to reverse any negative perceptions a celebrity social media teams, Petrey explained that Britney, like any other ‘major celebrity,’ has ‘a team to strategize’ her posts.

‘Almost every person has a social media team – just like they have a manager, publicist, record label, etc,’ she noted.

Conservatorship roots: Making a direct reference to Britney's conservatorship case, Petrey stressed that she was 'not hired by Britney via Lou Taylor' to run or control the Lucky singer's social media

Failed connections: Because the CrowdSurf cofounder and the Womanizer singer each posted about 'Repealing 50-A' and 'reading The Four Agreements,' fans used that as evidence that Petrey and CrowdSurf was closely controlling the star

Making a direct reference to Britney’s conservatorship case, Petrey stressed that she was ‘not hired by Britney via Lou Taylor’ to run or control the Lucky singer’s social media.

Lou Taylor is Spears’ former business manager, who fans have often accused of orchestrating the entire conservatorship with Spears’ father Jamie Spears. Lou resigned from her role in November of 2020.

Britney has been locked in a battle against her father to have him permanently removed from her conservatorship that he gained after her public breakdown in 2008.

Petrey added that she also ‘[does not] know’ anyone by the name of ‘Anastasia Brown,’ which was a name dropped in one Britney conspiracy thread in order to create a connection between Petrey and and Taylor.

‘My work on Britney’s social media does not involve her conservatorship in any way. That’s a court and lawyer thing. Since when do digital marketing people have anything to do with things that courts and lawyers handle?’ she wrote.

Simply false: Last, but not least, she addressed a 'viral Tik Tok about somebody getting hired to be Britney Spears' social media manager' that many assumed was about her

Petrey also shutdown claims that ‘Crowdbooster’ is ‘a bot interacting with people’ instead of a ‘data tool,’ after fans suggested it was being used to ‘monitor’ Spears.

As per her post, Petrey wrote that many fans tried to find ties between her and Britney, which involved hoards of fans scrolling through and dissecting her individual social media posts.

Because the CrowdSurf cofounder and the Womanizer singer each posted about ‘Repealing 50-A’ and ‘reading The Four Agreements,’ fans used that as evidence that Petrey and CrowdSurf was closely controlling the star

‘Britney was told about ‘Repeal 50-A’ and she decoded she wanted to post it. Nobody forced her to push an narrative she didn’t want to. Again, more assumptions with zero facts,’ she wrote.

‘The Four Agreements is one of the most popular self help books of all time. Quit trying to make 2 women liking the same book a conspiracy theory.’

Fans also noticed on Petrey’s Instagram page that her and her partner had once taken a trip to Hawaii at the same time as Britney in 2019, with one fan noting that ‘she stayed at Montage Kapalua Bay where Britney also normally stays when she goes there too.’

But Petrey eagerly shutdown any assumptions being made about the coincidental trip, writing that she has ”never been to Hawaii with Britney Spears, and didn’t take any of the photos on her trips.’

‘I have my own life, and I am perfectly capable of having a vacation without a client. Britney has never paid for me to go on any vacation with her.’

Last, but not least, she addressed a ‘viral Tik Tok about somebody getting hired to be Britney Spears’ social media manager’ that many assumed was about her.

No agenda: 'There's not some secret agenda to it. She's just having a good time, and I hope this helps people see it for what it actually she is,' she concluded; Britney pictured in 2020

[That] is simply not true. Not sure who made it up, but nobody has ever been asked any interview questions like that.’

To conclude her longwinded post, Cassie Petrey told fans of Britney that the ‘best thing [they] can do’ to support Britney and her social media is to ‘just be nice.’

‘That’s all she really wants. Don’t bully her. She doesn’t deserve it. She’s having fun creating posts and sharing images that she likes. That’s it.
