ASOS slams Boohoo for using a picture of brand’s socks on website

ASOS mocks Boohoo for ‘forgetting to Photoshop out’ its logo on a pair of sports socks worn by a model in ad for a crop top

ASOS has accused Boohoo of ‘forgetting to Photoshop out’ the brand’s logo on one of their website’s images. 

The online fashion retailer took to Twitter to share an image posted to the rival company’s website, showing a model promoting a Boohoo crop top while wearing a pair of ASOS s socks. 

ASOS claimed that the online store had neglected to edit out ots logo – with Boohoo lightheartedly brushing off the tweet insisting the other brand will ‘only ever be an accessory’. 

The tweet quickly went viral, gathering 901 retweets and 7.5K likes, with social media users commenting saying they ‘loved the pettiness’ of the comment.

Sharing an image of the brand’s Block Zip Up Body Shaping Crop, ASOS wrote:  ‘So @boohoo really forgot to photoshop out our ASOS 4505 logo sha’. 

Continuing to poke fun at the situation, ASOS then posted a link to the socks and saying: ‘Big up their styling team though, TOP TIER socks… Shameless plug.’  

Social media users quickly replied to the comment, with one writing: ‘This is why I love this company.’

While a third wrote: ‘How shady’.  

Re-sharing the tweet, Boohoo wrote: ‘You’ll only ever be an accessory ASOS.’ before commenting on Instagram: ‘ASOS are like that crazy ex boyf who can’t stop stalking your pics. #putasockinit.’  

The socks used in the Boohoo image were the ASOS 4505 crew socks which cost £10.00 for three pairs from the online retailer. 

ASOS 4505 is the brand’s activewear range for men and women which launched in February 2018.
