Today show host Karl Stefanovic is called out for his outstanding debt live on air

Today show host Karl Stefanovic is left speechless as he is reminded about his outstanding debt live on air

He’s the Today show host who is never afraid to speak his mind.

But on Friday, Karl Stefanovic was left speechless when a guest on the Channel Nine breakfast show reminded him about his outstanding debt live on air.

The 46-year-old and his co-host Allison Langdon were interviewing political advisor Moises Vela about President Joe Biden’s inauguration, when Ally asked: ‘Did you have a late night last night, Moe? Did you stay up and celebrate?’

‘I didn’t, I was waiting for that bottle of $10,000 wine that Karl owes me!’ he joked.

‘He promises a lot and very rarely delivers,’ Ally agreed, prompting a stunned Karl to say: ‘That’s not entirely true…’

‘I look forward to supplying that $10,000 bottle of wine. I will start saving. Love you Moe in Australia, keep on smiling,’ he added.

Karl didn’t specify why he owed Moises an expensive bottle of wine, but it’s possible he lost a bet about the outcome of the U.S. election.

It comes after the Today show host fired a brutal shot at 78-year-old Joe Biden while a guest mocked the U.S. president for ‘reading off the teleprompter’.

On Thursday, Karl claimed Biden’s one job was to ‘stay alive’ as he was sworn in as the 46th president.

He spoke with panellists Jacqui Lambie and journalist Sarrah Le Marquand as Biden promised to give his soul to reunifying America.

Ms Le Marquand said the ‘real work’ will begin for Biden once he convinces everyone that the Trump era is officially over.

‘I don’t want to be uncharitable but I thought his job for the last few months has been to stay alive,’ Karl said with a smirk.

Ms Le Marquand responded: ‘And to read the teleprompter in front of him probably.’

Karl was overcome with laughter as he continued: ‘As someone who does that for a living, I don’t think it’s that easy.’
