The Masked Dancer: Bill Nye The Science Guy reveals himself as Ice Cube with Group B debut on Fox

Bill Nye The Science Guy was revealed to be the Ice Cube after Group B’s debut on Wednesday’s episode of The Masked Dancer on Fox.

Asked what his favorite part of being on the show was, the 65-year-old TV presenter and engineer said, ‘I love to dance! It may not have been obvious, but I do love to dance.’

‘This is the happiest time of my life!’ cried Ken Jeong, 51, who’d correctly guessed Bill’s identity, and also stars on The Masked Singer. ‘I never get anything right on that other show.’

Another dancer almost didn’t make it to air after a disastrous rehearsal yesterday that saw her crash to the ground from a hula hoop high above stage.

Cotton Candy had been practicing her routine to Pink’s Glitter In The Air, which called for her to spin in the hoop, later to be contained in a bubble above the ground.

‘With the comedown and that transition, keep spinning and keep moving,’ someone was heard to advise the dancer before she went on.

Instead, mid-set, Cotton Candy fell backward from mid-air to hit the stage as screams and gasps of ‘Oh my God!’ could be heard.

Her body lay crumpled on the floor, her breathing shaky as crew members rushed over and someone yelled, ‘Medic to stage, please! Medic to stage!’

Watching video of the incident, show panelist Paula Abdul, 58—who has struggled with her own physical injuries in the past—grew emotional.

‘That’s one hell of a fall,’ she observed. ‘The show must go on’ is definitely her motto.’

‘I’m gonna give you a standing ovation for coming back,’ Paula said, her voice trembling.

Ice Cube’s dance to Postmodern Jukebox’s Bad Romance, a Lady Gaga cover, was enthusiastic but stilted.

In a pretaped video, he hinted at his identity with climate-change clues, urging viewers to join his ‘chill paradise,’ calling the road to success ‘slippery,’ and working his ‘ice-cold butt off.’

Ice suggested his mother had done important work at the White House and his father was behind bars—a clue that referred to Bill’s father, a P.O.W. in World War II.

‘My dreams came true and I finally feel in my element,’ Ice cracked as the periodic table was shown. ‘So if you ever want to climb an ice mountain, just remember: Don’t do it for fame, don’t do it for money; do it to make this cold world a better place.’

Other clues included a bag of money, Cornell University (Bill’s alma mater), the phrase ’90’s icon,’ and ballet slippers, referring to a patented slipper Bill had created.

Alternate guesses to his identity included talk show host Bill Maher, 64, journalist Anderson Cooper, 53, fashion maven Tim Gunn, 67, and former US vice-president Al Gore, 72.

Cotton Candy’s lovely set had her dancing to lyrics about trust, and looking fear in the face and continuing on, which resonated.

In her clue package, she said she was a ‘perfectionist,’ and former ‘whiz kid’ who had to move in with a ‘new family’ to chase her dreams.

‘I was just a kid and I got so homesick, I had trouble keeping up,’ she admitted. ‘But if I’ve learned anything in my life, it’s that when times get tough, I just can’t quit. I’m a fighter, and my new fans gave me a safe haven to keep going… And now, nothing can stop me from being at the top. Even after what happened at my rehearsal yesterday.’

Her accident was then shown in flashback.

Clues to her identity included ‘primetime,’ an English breakfast, a witch’s hat and candle, rainbow-striped lollipops, a clock spelling ‘LIFE’ backwards, dumbbells, an envelope addressed to ‘some very important people,’ dollar signs, cupcakes, the word ‘bird,’ and red lips.

The panel thought she might be a dancer like Julianne Hough, 32, or Jenna Dewan, 41, or the singer Pink, 40.

The show’s first dancer was Sloth, whose fitness-themed routine to The Romantics’ What I Like About You had Ken calling him ‘entertaining, funny and skilled.’

In a video package, Sloth called himself ‘the muscles from the jungle,’ then backed up and said, ‘Just kidding! I’ve worked hard to get where I am today.’ He described a bad childhood accident, and recalled, ‘People talked down and dirty to me, and said that I was just a Mickey Mouse operation. But I didn’t give up, and now I wake up each day stronger than yesterday.’

He concluded by saying he wanted to inspire a new generation, but added, ‘No need to call the Feds, ‘kay?’

Clues included Broadway, a clock set to 11:40, an ‘L’ for loser, GLEEM toothpaste (with the ‘M’ obscured), fire, flies in amber, the number 13, a sequined eye mask, x-rays, beakers with green liquid, women in lab coats with badges that read D.R., and a red-and-white striped afghan.

‘You know, Moths don’t seek out the spotlight,’ Moth said in her video, standing in an outdoor pavilion strung with lights. ‘It draws us in whether we want it or not. That’s the story of my life.’

The dancer said she had once been ‘a regular moth’ but had a traumatic experience that changed her life and led her to make headlines with the president.

‘I decided if I couldn’t escape the spotlight, I would use it to shine a light on the things I cared about most,’ she remembered. ‘So I took control of my fame, and now I thrive in the spotlight.’
