‘It was just a freak accident where someone got tackled, and she came in and then must have got slung and they had a head clash,’ he began.

‘She obviously got knocked out straightaway, and then woke up and came off. She collapsed and she, well, she never woke up from that.’

Travis became emotional as he revealed that his sister was put on life support, but even if she pulled through things weren’t looking good.

‘There was every chance too, that if she pulled through she might not even remember any of us, which was quite heartbreaking,’ he added.

Travis went on to say that her death was one of the ‘toughest times’ in his life and he is still affected by the grief.

‘You have good days and bad days, but I think they get further and further apart,’ he said.

‘I don’t think it gets easier, I just think you find better ways of coping.’

Travis then thanked Mel for making him feel ‘comfortable’ to talk about his sister.

‘Mel’s so beautiful and made me feel very, very comfortable, and it just came pouring out,’ he said.
