‘My biggest worry is our children losing us’: Katherine Jenkins discusses family fears and struggles during lockdown as she poses for stunning photoshoot

Katherine Jenkins has revealed her ‘biggest worry’ is that her children will lose either her or her husband Andrew Levitas.

The singer, 40, and her other half, 43, are parents to daughter Aaliyah, five, and son Xander, two, and as they both lost their fathers at young ages, they fear the same happening to their children.

Speaking to Woman & Home magazine, Katherine said: As a mum, my biggest worry is our children losing one of us.

‘As children, Andrew and I lost our fathers, so we talk to the kids about loss and grief, which I know sounds quite morbid but in our house, death is a reality.’

Katherine’s father Selwyn died of lung cancer when she was 15 and she has dedicated every award she has received in her career to him.

Elsewhere, the mezzo-soprano said doing virtual performances for her fans during lockdown helped her to get through it.

The star sang live over Facebook to more than 5 million viewers as she tried to help keep people’s spirits up during the pandemic.

She explained: ‘It’s OK to say it’s been hard. I’ve been through the ups and downs like everybody else.

‘Having something to work towards and knowing that other people were also relying on the 6pm meet got me through.’

Katherine added that being in lockdown has made her and Andrew become more ‘besotted’ with their children.

She said: ‘Lockdown has clarified what’s important. I’m thankful for the time I’ve had with the kids and my husband. Normally, we aren’t in the same house for many consecutive nights. I’ll be away touring or he’ll be on a film set.

‘Andrew and I’ve become more besotted with the kids because I’ve been here for their different milestones.

‘Aaliyah learned to read at the start of lockdown and Xander was just speaking words but is now a chatterbox. It has been a real bonding time.’

Katherine added that she and Andrew’s marriage works because they have a ‘very fair’ relationship.

The Welsh songstress accepted a role in Andrew’s film Minamata, joking she accepted it on the condition that filming would be the only time he is allowed to boss her around.

Also during the interview, Katherine insisted she has never had Botox and instead keeps her skin healthy by drinking lots of water and using FaceGym, which helps to tighten facial muscles.
