Could this be the end of Rove McManus as a presenter? Here is what he would like to do instead

He recently hinted at a television comeback after stepping away from the spotlight to focus on his production company, Roving Enterprises.

But Rove McManus’ return may be different to how many Australians remember him on late-night talk show Rove Live.

In an interview with The Daily Telegraph, the 46-year-old divulged he would like to work in children’s entertainment – particularly on ABC animated series Bluey.

‘I’m very available’: Rove McManus, 46, has begged ABC to give him a role as a voice actor in popular children’s cartoon Bluey

‘I’m sending a flare up to anyone in the show that I’m very available,’ he said.

Bluey is a six-year-old Blue Heeler dog with a creative imagination, who loves to turn everyday family life into magical and often transformative experiences.

Rove has played plenty of animated characters in the past.

His most memorable roles include Junior Investor in Norm of the North; Max, Hiro, Coach Coach, Stinky, John, Lionel and Skinny Arthur in Cartoon Network’s Exchange Student Zero; and a crab in Finding Nemo.

Rove confessed to the publication he also had a knack for mimicking animal sounds, such as a hippopotamus.

‘It won’t translate to print well and most people wouldn’t know what sounds they make, so it’s hard for a person to critique it, but trust me it’s spot on,’ he said.

His confession follows hinting he was planning a television comeback at the AACTA Awards earlier this month.

When asked whether fans should expect to see him on TV again, Rove told Daily Mail Australia: ‘Yes, there will be something before the end of the year.’

The presenter did not provide any details about the show, saying he was ‘not allowed to talk about it until it’s properly announced’.

However, he was prepared to speak about another project in the pipeline, saying he is doing voice-over work for an animation.

‘There will be something, which at this point I’m probably only allowed to say, it will be my voice that you will hear,’ he teased.

‘I’ve been doing lots of animation stuff, which has been great fun, so I am enjoying that.’
