Married At First Sight’s Michael Brunelli surprises his dad in Melbourne for Christmas

Michael Brunelli left his dad pleasantly surprised after showing up on his doorstep in Melbourne on Tuesday.

In a video posted to Instagram Stories, the 30-year-old former Married At First Sight star revealed he’d managed to sneak into Victoria from Sydney before the border closures came into effect. 

‘Surprising dad after 7 months and he says what every Victorian is thinking,’ he captioned the post.

After spying Michael through the glass door, his beloved dad can be heard excitedly screaming, ‘Ohhh!’ 

But his mood changed after opening the door to his reality TV star son. 

‘No, no, we don’t want any. Sorry, mate. Sorry, we don’t take Sydneysiders here, mate. Bloody…’ he joked, before trailing off.

Michael relocated to Sydney from Melbourne earlier in the year with his girlfriend, Martha Kalifatidis, who he was paired with on last year’s season of MAFS.

In an interview with Daily Mail Australia back in March, Martha, 32, rattled off a list of things that annoyed her about Michael since moving in with him.

‘He doesn’t wash dishes, he just rinses them. I have found glasses on the shelf with lip prints on them and fragments of lemon still in them…’ she said.

‘Another thing he does that annoys me is he runs the shower water when he’s not in the shower. I just feel like it’s so wasteful! That is something that breaks my heart.’ 

Victoria closed their borders to New South Wales at midnight on Monday, following an outbreak of coronavirus on Sydney’s northern beaches.

Anyone travelling into Victoria from NSW now has to spend 14 days in mandatory hotel quarantine.
