Geri Horner delivers Christmas presents to NHS workers on the Covid frontline on Rainbow Woman

Geri Horner delivered Christmas presents to NHS workers on the Covid frontline on her recent episode of YouTube series Rainbow Woman on Sunday.  

The Spice Girls star, 48, visited London’s Whittington Hospital earlier in December where she met with staff who have worked tirelessly during the coronavirus crisis.

At the start of the episode, which was filmed earlier this month before London was put into Tier 4, Geri said NHS workers deserve ‘appreciation, kindness and love’.

The star continued: ‘Today’s not about me. It’s about some amazing people that deserve appreciation, kindness and love, and we’re going to go and share it with them.

‘I’m actually reminded of the goodness of humanity, that actually human beings are good people. They really are. When you meet someone that has been really kind, you think, “Oh God, there’s me moaning about my own stuff”. 

‘For this moment, it puts it all into perspective. They go above and beyond every day, they just do. So today is about acknowledging that.’   

Geri thoughtfully added: ‘In life, we can all get a little bit complacent, take things for granted… we can lose touch with what’s real, what’s important.’

During the episode, the star meets with Sara Finkel, who is a newly-qualified Intensive Care Unit nurse.

Sara had only been working at London’s Whittington Hospital for three months before the coronavirus pandemic happened. At the height of the crisis, she witnessed seven people a day dying from Covid. 

She told Geri: ‘I saw some people dying without their families. Literally, people were dying alone because families couldn’t come in to see them. They spent their last days by themselves.’

The ICU nurse added: ‘It was like war. Literally, like a battle zone. Nobody had a chance to stop and think. Everyone was just trying to keep people alive, minute after minute, day after day.’

To which Geri said: ‘I can imagine the sort of responsibility on your own heart to try and be there for them as well as on a medical way, but also on a human way. To try and prop them up.

‘We should feel so proud that we have people like Sara in our communities and in our country. Thank you to everyone out there that has cared for us.’ 

Geri looked effortlessly chic for the filming in a tailored Gucci coat with a branded belt to cinch in her svelte waist and a stylish button fastening.  

Adding some finishing touches, the star opted for a white polo neck jumper and matching coloured trousers with a flared hem.

Sticking to her all-white fashion theme, Geri accessorised with a beret, Prada handbag, Louboutin heels and pearl jewellery.

The singer styled her fiery red locks into a sleek blow-dried hairdo, which she tucked under her beret, and added a slick of radiant make-up.  

Only recently, the star spoke about her new children’s series Rainbow Woman on The One Show.

Geri’s first episode, which was released in November, saw her transform into Queen Elizabeth I. 

The star revealed that she worked with some of the Peaky Blinders team to shoot her YouTube show and screenwriting legend Richard Curtis even gave her script notes.   

For the first episode, Geri was worlds away from her usual looks as she donned an illustrious red gown and wig to transform into Queen Elizabeth I.   

Talking about the scenes, she divulged: ‘The wonderful thing about this was, do you like Peaky Blinders? I’m a massive fan. The DP of that, I worked with him to shoot that. So it’s beautifully shot.

‘Then I wrote it, I’ve always loved acting a little bit, so to put that in it’s almost like a creative playground. Then Richard Curtis, I wrote it and said: ‘Could you have a little look?’ He gave me script notes!’

Talking about her series, Geri said: ‘The whole thing was like an unexpected venture. I like lots of things, I like music, I like storytelling, I’m curious.’

Speaking about her idea behind portraying Queen Elizabeth I, she said: ‘Queen Elizabeth was a rainbow woman, she was adventurous, she was brave, she put duty first. 

‘There was a painting I discovered called the rainbow, her portrait, showing her there, showing how she had to be stoic and strong through tough times.’

Geri said that her new YouTube series is a ‘love letter’ to the fans and shows everything that she adores in her life.

Last month, the star looked unrecognisable as she transformed into Queen Elizabeth I in the first look at her new YouTube series Rainbow Woman.

The Spice Girls hitmaker was worlds away from her usual looks as she donned an illustrious red gown and wig to play the fierce monarch in the first episode of her children’s series.

Geri also offered a glimpse of Rainbow Woman through a teaser video she shared with fans, revealing episodes will be released on her YouTube every Sunday.  

The first episode of Rainbow Woman, titled Queen Speaks, sees Geri honour Queen Elizabeth by visiting Ashridge House in full costume, where she resided as a Princess until she was arrested by her sister Mary in 1558.

Queen Elizabeth I ruled over England throughout the Tudor period, succeeding her sister Mary I on the throne from 1558 to 1603.

Known for her signature red hair and refusal to find a husband, she became known as ‘The Virgin Queen’ for ruling the country without a man at her side. 

While recent episodes have seen the star taking a monstrous military tank for a drive and opening up about regaining her confidence to tour with the Spice Girls.  

It was reported in The Sun in September, that Geri is focusing on a new children’s series which will celebrate the LGBTQ+ community.

She is expected to release a range of children’s fiction books following the success of her first novel, Ugenia Lavender, which sold 250,000 ­copies over five months after it was released in 2008.

It is likely that her intriguing video project is linked to her upcoming books as they are promoted under the Rainbow Woman banner.  

They also claimed that the mother-of-two plans to focus all of her efforts on her new project instead of relaunching a solo singing career.
