Marty Sheargold SLAMS his former Nova co-hosts Kate Ritchie and Tim Blackwell

Marty Sheargold blasts his former Nova co-hosts Kate Ritchie and Tim Blackwell and says their top-rating drive show was BORING – as he jumps ship to Triple M

Marty Sheargold has sensationally turned his back on his former Nova FM co-hosts Kate Ritchie and Tim Blackwell, saying working with them felt like a chore.

The seasoned radio presenter, 49, quit the popular Kate, Tim and Marty drive show in September and will now front Triple M Melbourne’s breakfast slot from next year.

The comedian told the Herald Sun he’d ‘had enough’ of Nova and compared working with Kate and Tim to ‘groundhog day’.

‘I had had enough of that show,’ Marty said.

‘I’d lost interest in that show and as an enjoyable experience as it was, I am at an age now where if I don’t have a tilt at something, if I didn’t really have a go at something, then I wouldn’t get another window to have a go because I am not getting any younger.’

Marty added that he felt ‘censored’ at Nova and was ‘sick’ and tired of it.

He added: ‘It was the same show every day. It had a real groundhog [day] feel to it and it was really that I wanted an opportunity to go and build something myself.’

Last week, Marty was announced as the new host of Triple M’s Melbourne’s breakfast show.

The Marty Sheargold Show will replace The Hot Breakfast, fronted by Eddie McGuire and Luke Darcy, from January 18.

‘This type of show is something I’ve wanted to do for years and years and years,’ Marty told News.com.au.

‘To be given the opportunity by Triple M to do that is an absolute joy.

‘The show will be what I’ve always done: I’ll build that “club house” and I’ll invite people to come and join.’

Marty added that he looked forward to working alongside Troy Ellis, who has a ‘great breakfast radio brain’ and will be the show’s co-anchor.

Meanwhile, funnyman Joel Creasey has replaced Marty on Nova FM, and the drive program has been rebranded Kate, Tim and Joel.
