Couple move in together during lockdown after just ONE date

A couple who bravely committed to living together during lockdown after just one date revealed how they’re now officially a couple on The Year That Changed Love.

Last night’s Channel 4 documentary explored the impact of Covid-19 on people’s love lives – including two Edinburgh residents, Claire, 31, and Jade, 27, who chose to go into isolation together after one date.

After deciding to isolate together in Jade’s flat, the couple can be seen relaxing in face masks, tucking into a steak dinner and watching Aladdin.

And viewers were delighted to hear that at the end of lockdown, the couple had not only survived living together, but had made it official – eight months on.

‘Crazy the moved in together after one date and it’s worked out for them but fair play,’ wrote one, while a second added: ‘Moved in after one date? Almost like #MarriedAtFirstSight.’

Explaining how they met, Claire said: ‘We matched on Tinder and then that day, I clocked her and thought she’s bonny – so sent a Snapchat of my boobs.’

Jade replied: ‘Basically straight in. I was having a fag and nearly choked on it. It was two in the afternoon!’

Claire and Jade met just seven days before Scotland first went into lockdown, so they had to decide there and then whether to call it a day or go for it.

‘We isolated together after one date,’ explained Claire, who was on furlough from her bar job in Edinburgh at the time.

Claire, who moved in with Jade who lives an hour out of town, added: ‘It was like being thrown in the deep end. It’s like every morning. Normally you have one morning where you can escape before they wake up, but it was like, “no, I’m still here.” It was strange.’

Jade went onto explain how they are ‘complete polar opposites’ when it comes to their personalities.

‘I was just pestering her constantly like, can we just make it a thing?’ she joked. ‘Like, you’re in my house?’

However, before meeting Jade, Claire explained that monogamy was off the cards and was ‘just not going to happen.’

‘I was in a relationship for about four years, there were happy times,’ explained Claire. ‘And then I think it just became a routine. It was just loveless for so long. After, I was like, I’m just going to go on random dates – that’s when I met Jade.’

‘We had an agreement that if we were to majorly fallout or argue or something she would drive me home.’

And three months in, the couple appeared to be getting on like a house on fire – and Jade even met Claire’s parents – at a safe social distance.

‘Jade is lovely,’ explained Claire. ‘She’s always happy and I can be a bit dark sometimes and I think during lockdown, one morning I woke up on the wrong side of the bed she kept me up and happier than I’ve been in a long time.’

She continued: ‘You want your mum to like them, even if you’re a bit rebellious. My mum saw me through a lot of bad relationships so she was a bit hesitant with Jade.’

‘When I said I’d found someone she said, “I thought you was going to work on yourself?” She was a bit funny at first, but daily updates when I was like we did this, or that, or we spent two hours trying to moonwalk, she thought it was a good thing.’

When lockdown was over and Claire and Jade’s lives returned to normal, the pair had to make a big decision – and revealed Claire cleared her flat out to officially move in with Jade.

‘We’ve merged I guess quickly, but it doesn’t feel quickly. It was just condensed so it was just a fast forward,’ said Claire.

Jade added: ‘This is it, for me anyway! This is pretty much us set, hopefully!’
