The Weeknd’s Blinding Lights is the most-played song on Australian radio in 2020 – as homegrown talent Sia trails behind in 12th place

The Weeknd’s hit single Blinding Lights has been named the most-played song on Australian radio in 2020

A survey of 31 major stations by AirCheck reveals the track was played 30,006 times from January 1 to December 8 this year.

Riarne Gale, AirCheck’s Client Services Executive, said: ‘To put this kind of airplay into perspective, the total airplay for Blinding Lights is the equivalent of listening to the song on repeat for 70 days straight.’ 

Australia’s favourite song! The Weeknd’s ‘Blinding Lights’ is the most played song across 31 Australian radio stations in 2020. The catchy tune by the Canadian singer, 30, received 30,006 plays from between January 1 to December 8 

Don’t Start Now by British pop star Dua Lipa placed second with 21,805 plays, while Adore You by Harry Styles was played 21,140 times.

Breaking Me by German DJ Topic and Swedish singer-songwriter A7S landed the fourth spot with 21,123 plays.

Rounding out the top five most-played songs was Look Into My Eyes by Brando, which was played 21,057 times.
