Camilla Thurlow has admitted she ‘really struggled’ to breastfeed her baby daughter Nell for the first six weeks.  

The former Love Island star, 31, welcomed her first child with partner Jamie Jewitt back in October and shared a candid insight on Thursday about her experience as a first-time mum. 

Posting a sweet snap of Jamie, 30, feeding Nell from a bottle, Camilla told her followers she now expresses a bottle a day as she shared her breastfeeding journey.

Camilla wrote: ‘I really struggled with breastfeeding at the start, and so decided the best thing would be to exclusively breastfeed for the first six weeks to work through any challenges. 

‘Those six weeks certainly had their ups and their downs but they gave me the chance to build my confidence and seek the support I needed. 

‘There are still times when it it is tricky and some days and nights are harder than others, but feeding Nell is so special and it was important to us that @jamiejewitt could be a part of that.

‘Last week we hit the six week mark and now I express a bottle a day for Jamie to give to Nell – watching him do that has been yet another wonderful part of the feeding journey.’

At the weekend, Camilla beamed as she shared a candid snap of her breastfeeding her baby daughter in the ‘feeding chair’ at 2am, before being awoken again to feed the tot just two hours later.

She captioned the post: ‘And we’re back in the feeding chair. Sending love to everyone else doing night feeds tonight, I hope you have all the snacks!’

A few hours later, Camilla shared another snap after Nell’s 4.30am feed which she said was ‘long’, as she posted the picture at 5.32am.  

Alongside the fresh-faced image, she wrote: ‘3am is when I do my best online shopping! Truly though, I look very happy in this picture and these moments in the middle of the night are precious ones that I am forever grateful for.. 

‘But I definitely don’t want to sugarcoat how challenging I have found breastfeeding so far. Maybe one day I’ll talk about my experience with it.

‘But for now I just want to say greatest respect to all the mothers out there figuring out their way to feed their baby, it’s a tricky journey and I’m so grateful for the support I’ve had from the NHS and of course from @jamiejewitt_’ 

Camilla and her beau Jamie, who were runners-up in the 2017 series of the popular ITV2 dating show, announced the birth of Nell on Instagram in late October. 

Alongside a series of cute snaps, Camilla wrote: ‘Nell Sophia Jewitt | 4:32am 27th October 6lb 5oz.
