Police find body in woodland in hunt for missing boy, 16, who vanished yesterday sparking huge search operation

  • Police confirmed they found a body in the woodland  in the search for the teen
  • Formal identification has not yet taken place but his family has been informed

Police searching for the missing teenager found a body in woodland today, after yesterday’s huge search operation.  

Lucas Webb was last seen in the village of Barham, Canterbury, at around 1.30pm on Saturday. 

Sadly police officers confirmed they found a body in the woodland and although formal identification hasn’t taken place yet, the family of the 16-year- old has been informed.

 A spokesperson for Kent Police said: ‘Kent Police attended woodland near Barham at 11.30am on Sunday 13 December 2020, where the body of a boy was located. 

‘He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

‘Formal identification has not yet taken place, however, the family of a 16-year-old boy who was reported missing on Saturday 12 December have been informed.

‘The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report is being prepared for the coroner.

‘Officers would like to thank all of those who responded to the appeal to locate him.’

A major search has been launched for a missing 16-year-old as a police helicopter is called and 50 volunteers scour a Kent village in the search for the missing boy

 The 16-year-old described as having a medium build with blonde short hair, was last seen wearing a light grey hooded top, dark trousers, brown boots and lime green coloured gloves.

The teenager also had a lime green coloured bike and a large backpack with him.

A major search was launched yesterday as a police helicopter was called and 50 volunteers scoured the village in the search for the missing boy.
