Married At First Sight’s Sean Thomsen reveals why he refused invitation to appear on the reunion

Married At First Sight star Sean Thomsen reveals the sad reason why he WON’T be part of the all-star reunion special

Sean Thomsen has revealed why he won’t be appearing on Nine’s upcoming Married At First Sight reunion special.

Speaking to the Reality TV and Me podcast this week, the reality star claimed he’d been invited to take part in the show, but promptly chose to decline.

‘Obviously I didn’t get along with the philosophy that the show encompasses,’ said Sean, who was ‘married’ to Blair Rachael before moving on with Tracey Jewel.

‘It’s more about the entertainment value for the network and what not. It was good fun while it lasted. But that was a few years ago now.’

Sean said he turned down the invitation because he didn’t want to be part of the fiery arguments that would likely ensue during filming.

‘I didn’t want to go back there,’ he began. I knew it would tee-off,’ he said.

‘I know a lot of the people change their personality as soon as the camera is on. I knew there would have been screaming.’

Sean now joins a long list of stars who have refused to be part of the reunion, including Sean Donnelly, Scarlett Cooper and Melissa Lucarelli.

A number of former Married At First Sight stars have publicly criticised the reunion show, which wrapped filming last week and will premiere early next year.

Sean, who also appeared on the 2018 season of the series, has previously been an open critic of the show, having even published a tell-all book about his experience called Married Lies.

‘I realised that the producers… were treating us like their puppets, that there was never any intent of actually matching people up, that the commitment ceremonies were a lie and that our sole purpose as human beings on the show was to play into the stereotypical roles they’d assigned to us,’ he wrote in the tome.

He went on to claim that decisions were always left up to producers, rather than the participants.

‘The participants have no input whatsoever. Every decision, every development is dictated by these manipulative producers.’
