Big news: Gabrielle Ruiz took to Instagram on Saturday to announce that she and husband Philip Pisanchyn are 20 weeks pregnant, as she celebrated her 36th birthday

The 36-year-old was all smiles, as she cradled her baby bump in a skintight dress, before sharing a kiss with Pisanchyn at their Big Bear Lake cabin on Thanksgiving.

She wrote: ‘Today, on my 36th birthday, I am 20 weeks pregnant. Half way thru, right? Idk I’ve never gotten this far! We are pregnant, friends!

Ruiz continued: ‘I decided to share the news in my own way, in this new world. One family member at a time, one random photo to a friend at a time and one hellavu live @waffpodcast show with my CXGF Girlfriends all at one time. And it’s been already a journey. I’ve also been scared. Every day.

‘Since my last miscarriage, I just waited to get thru all the “you and the baby are good” steps. Every appointment ends w a breath of relief and a chocolate iced donut. You know what I’m talking about, mama warriors. But I have to say, taking a new step in faith every day since we found out has been fulfilling.

‘Because it’s not about me. It’s about protecting and guiding this baby into an unknown world. And I’m loving it. I’m ready. Thank you for the wishes! And come through all you other pandemic pregnant ladies! Let’s get through this together! I love you, Philip Pisanchyn.’

She also shared the moment that she revealed the news to her Crazy Ex-Girlfriend co-stars Rachel Bloom, Vella Lovell, Donna Lynne Champlin and friend Pallavi Sastry on a special live episode of her podcast What Are Friends For.

With the announcement, Ruiz told People that she’s due in May, adding: ‘Since my miscarriage last fall, I had a new perspective on my health as a woman ready to start a family.

‘I focused on my mental and physical health while we were trying again. When COVID-19 took over the world, we were weary of trying again, but decided to continue in faith. Six months later, we were pregnant!’

She added: ‘Philip and I are so thrilled and grateful to God for this new chapter in our lives. We have been focusing on the positives of staying safe in isolation while sharing our pregnancy journey with family, friends and fans in new, virtual ways. So if any other soon-to-be mothers out there have any tips, we’ll take them!’

It comes after the Crazy Ex-Girlfriend star opened up about her miscarriage in an emotional post last November on Instagram.

She wrote: ‘I feel it is my duty to continue the transparency in sharing the secret story-telling of miscarriages. Because no one really talks about it as much as we should. I now have the opportunity to tell you that you, my dear, are not alone.’

Ruiz tied the knot with Pisanchyn back in August of 2016, during a private Caribbean ceremony in Saint Martin, after meeting on Match.com.
