Channel Nine factual programs Emergency and Paramedics have resumed filming in Melbourne.

Camera crews are back following paramedics around the city, while production is in full swing at Royal Melbourne Hospital’s emergency department, TV Tonight reports.

The Covid-19 pandemic and its impact on frontline workers will figure prominently in the new seasons of both shows.

According to the industry publication, the crews filming the shows will work under strict Covid-safe guidelines.

This includes wearing PPE (personal protective equipment) and cleaning the recording equipment regularly.

It comes after Melbourne recorded its 40th consecutive day with no new coronavirus cases on Thursday.

Australia entered its first lockdown in March, but an outbreak in Melbourne led to a second lockdown in July, which was subsequently extended by a further six weeks.

The restrictions were eased last month.

Paramedics first aired on Nine in 2018, and was followed by Emergency in 2020.

The medical programs weren’t the only TV shows to be affected by the pandemic.

The Block, which is also filmed in Melbourne, had to limit the number of people working on building sites this year.

Production also installed hand-sanitising stations around the building site and hired a nurse to perform regular temperature checks.
