The Saks Lights Up Fifth Avenue event is being livestreamed so people can enjoy it safely during the pandemic.

In honor of Porowski, the department store made a donation to the Family Equality Council that advances equality for LGBTQ+ families.

Before heading out to the event, Porowski posted a selfie to his Instagram which showed him dressed up in the bedroom of his apartment as his beloved rescue pup looked on.

In the caption, he wrote: ‘got dressed up today it was a v big deal ‘cept doggo didn’t recognize me in real clothes.’

Porowski moved from Canada to New York City to study acting and worked in the restaurant industry while trying to establish a career in film and television.

He became friends with Ted Allen, the original Queer Eye food and wine expert, and when Netflix decided to reboot the show in 2017, he took on the same role.
