The Project’s Carey Bickmore thanks cartoon character Bluey for getting her children ‘through the toughest year in their young lives’
Carey Bickmore has paid tribute to a very important figure in her life – the cartoon character, Bluey.
In a column for Stellar Magazine, The Project host says the animated series gave her children comfort during the pandemic lockdowns, and helped her, too.
The 40-year-old wrote: ‘Thank you for getting our kids through the toughest year in their young lives to date.

‘You were there during the long days in lockdown. You distracted them when we needed to work with one of them at our feet. You made us laugh when we were stretched as a family.’
Carrie went on to say that the animated series was like ‘putting a mirror up to our family’.
She gave the example of an episode that dealt with a grandmother struggling to use FaceTime, which Carrie’s children asked their own nan to watch.
The 40-year-old wrote: ‘Thank you for getting our kids through the toughest year in their young lives to date. You were there during the long days in lockdown. You distracted them when we needed to work with one of them at our feet. You made us laugh’

She thanked the program for covering topics such as parents having work, iPad addiction, death and bedtime routines, saying they were truly helpful.
The TV host wrote in conclusion: ‘Just know that when I think of 2020 and all its pain, one of the shining lights will be you, and the excitement that echoed through the house when your opening jingle played.’

On Friday, Carrie celebrated 40th birthday by throwing a small shindig with her friends and family by her side.
She revealed in September that she had to cancel her grand plans to celebrate her 40th at Glastonbury Festival due to Covid-19.
Carrie wore a pink dress as she posed next to a balloon with a rather cheeky slogan, and joked that she gets to stay 39 for another year because 2020 doesn’t count.
