Home and Away’s Lynne McGranger defends the divisive season finale after viewers called it ‘disappointing’

Disgruntled Home and Away fans described Monday night’s season finale as ‘boring’ and a ‘disappointment’. 

And one of the soap’s longest-serving stars, Lynne McGranger, has hit back at the critics, saying it was a miracle the show even got finished in the first place.

In a post shared to Twitter on Tuesday, the 67-year-old actress praised the hard-working cast, crew and writing team who managed to deliver an uninterrupted season during a global pandemic.

‘Our cast and crew and writers, producers and directors have worked their bums off since the end of May with little or no respite,’ she tweeted.

‘So I think the final episode is a-freaking-mazing,’ she added.

One fan agreed with her, tweeting: ‘Lynne McGranger and Shane Withington in the season finale was EVERYTHING. I miss Home and Away already.’

But there were many who were not impressed, including one who wrote: ‘UK Home and Away fans need not despair for the finale because nothing dramatic happened!’

‘Well that Home and Away finale was a disappointment. No cliffhanger whatsoever,’ another tweeted.

‘What a waste of an hour. Boring for a finale,’ a third added.

The highly anticipated end-of-year episode saw Sam Frost’s character, Jasmine, have a chance encounter with an old flame, Lewis, played by Luke Arnold.

Colby (Tim Franklin) was sentenced to 25 years in prison after pleading guilty to Ross Nixon’s murder after Witness X’s betrayal, but that still wasn’t enough to excite fans.
