And Dolly Parton, Barbra Streisand and Patti LaBelle were hailed for their incredible careers as each starred on the covers of T Magazine holiday issue.

The powerful vocalists received the high honors for their ‘iconic American musical styles’ in a gorgeous series from The New York Times.

Editor in chief Hanya Yanagihara shared that each woman ‘became synonymous with an iconic American musical style: the Broadway show tune (Streisand), country (Parton) and soul (LaBelle). 

‘The fact that they persevered with both grit and good grace is as much a part of their legacy as are their musical catalogs.’

Dolly, who recently released a new memoir titled Dolly Parton, Songteller: My Life in Lyrics, has enjoyed an illustrious career which has spanned the course of six decades.

The 74-year-old icon revealed to Sunday Times Magazine that she has no plans to settle down and stop making music.

‘I don’t know why I’d ever want to stop. Especially after you get older, you need things to do,’ she said. ‘I’d rather wear out than rust out. You only have one life. No, I won’t retire. I might pull back if my husband’s not well or if I’m physically not well. But I’d never do it for any other reason.’
