Channel Seven has been ‘inundated with Aussie celebs’ desperate to appear on SAS Australia next season
SAS Australia has been one of the surprise reality TV hits of the year, bringing in huge ratings for Channel Seven.
So it’s no surprise that celebrities are scrambling to get cast on the second season of the show, which is due to air next year.
‘We have been inundated with Aussie celebs wanting to take part and there are some good surprises on the shortlist,’ a Channel Seven spokesperson told news.com.au.

The spokesperson explained that Seven is trying to finalise the cast sooner rather than later so that the celebrities have time to get in shape for the gruelling series.
SAS Australia producers are already deep into the casting process for next year, the spokesperson said.
‘Names will be locked off sooner than later as people need to train hard to be ready for this course,” they said.

‘Once cast they are given a training program. Ideally they need at least three months to get SAS “fit” in a physical sense, but getting into the right mindset is up to the individual.’
The first season of SAS Australia came to an end on Tuesday night.
The final episode – which saw comedian Merrick Watts, rugby union player Nick Cummins and AFLW star Sabrina Frederick pass SAS selection – drew a national audience of 1.04 million viewers.

It also broke ratings records on Seven’s streaming service 7Plus, becoming the most watched show in the history of the platform.
While it’s unclear who will be cast on season two, Daily Mail Australia recently revealed two of the celebrities who almost made the cut for season one.
Former Married At First Sight villains Jessika Power and Ines Basic were both considered for season one, but were dropped by producers as casting moved forward.

A source said there were concerns from Jessika’s camp about her fitness level, as the blonde bride is known for her love of fast food and often boasts about not exercising and hating the gym.
She was then advised by her management to get in shape in case Channel Seven is ever interested in casting her in the future.
Fellow bride Ines was much closer to making it on the show, but ultimately things didn’t work out for her either.
