EXCLUSIVE Love Island’s Idris Virgo challenges Jack Fincham

Love Island’s Idris Virgo has responded to his co-star Jack Fincham’s challenge to a boxing match and claimed he would ‘demolish’ the show winner.

The Birmingham-born sportsman, who appeared briefly on the show as a bombshell entry in 2018, has weighed in of Jack’s foray into the fighting world, after he said last month: ‘I don’t see a reason why I couldn’t go and beat Idris Virgo’.

Not taking the offer too kindly, Idris told MailOnline: ‘Jack has nothing in his arsenal that would worry me at all’, while also claiming Jack lied about the injuries he sustained in a car crash, which forced him to pull out of a fight.

Shocker: Love Island’s Idris Virgo has responded to his co-star Jack Fincham’s challenge to a boxing match and claimed he would ‘demolish’ the show winner

Jack has been focusing on launching his boxing career, yet last month he underwent emergency surgery to reset his broken nose, weeks after he was involved in a car crash, which meant he pulled out of an upcoming fight.

Idris seemed to question his abilities and claimed there was a possibility that his injuries came from the ring and he wasn’t totally prepared.

He said: ‘It’s a tricky one with injuries, you can’t prevent them, it is what it is, but I don’t believe he got that from a car crash, I do believe he got that from something else as he knew he wasn’t ready to step under the lights, because it’s a big deal…

‘If you’re not performing in training, not performing in sparring, there was a big question mark over him to see if he was ready.’

He then made his bold statement, saying: ‘I wish him luck for recovery but again if he decides to call me out I would totally demolish him, we could be friends outside the ring but as soon as I know that he is my opponent, I am not his friend…

‘We are not best friends, we’re not even mates, we are enemies and that’s how it is, it will always be this way, whoever I am fighting, you’re not my pal, I look to take your life, to destroy you.’

His comments come after Jack told World Boxing News last month, Jack said: ‘Idris Virgo, listen don’t get me wrong he’s a good fighter, but I feel that down the line, when I’m fitter and I’m a super middle weight, I don’t see a reason why I couldn’t go and beat Idris Virgo…

‘I’ve watched him. Like I said, technically a good fighter, I’m not 100% sure but I had a round with a senior/amateur background, do you know what I mean?’

On his time on Love Island, he said: ‘Great experience, being in the villa with gorgeous women, sun beaming…

‘I still trained a lot in the villa but love being on TV, love being in front of the camera so, really good experience, opened my eyes to what reality TV can do for a boxing career, best thing I did in my life.’

In a bold move, Idris also insisted he could take on Tyson Fury’s brother Tommy.

He said: ‘Tommy Fury had a fight the other weekend, he can’t box, I don’t think Tommy Fury can box, he’s got an awkward style, he just can’t put one or two combinations together, I don’t think he’s got any power…

‘I think he also struggles to get down to his weight. I would take both of them on the same night, I will take Jack first then I’ll taken Tommy Fury. Yeah, I would take both of them on the same night if that could happen, I will knock both of them out.

Watch Idris fight live on Channel 5 at 10pm on Friday 11 December
