Carly Pearce knocked out her two front teeth while dressed as a ‘wine drinkin cat’ on Halloween

Country crooner Carly Pearce was grinning ear to ear after taking home the trophy for musical event of the year at the 54th Annual CMA Awards in Nashville on Wednesday night.

Audiences never knew the Kentucky-born 30-year-old had to have emergency dental surgery after falling and knocking out her two front teeth while dressed as a ‘wine drinkin cat’ over Halloween.

‘It looked really bad. It was scary. I was just really fortunate to get doctors that helped and knew the pressure I was under,’ Carly told E! News on Wednesday.  

‘I had a bunch of stitches in my mouth, looked completely different than what I looked like right now, and it was kind of scary because I knew I was going into the biggest week of my life.’

Pearce (born Slusser) added: ‘But with every day, I was like, “Please Lord, let my face heal so I can do this” because this is such a huge moment.’

Perhaps the Hide the Wine songstress had heard how her estranged husband Michael Ray was dressed as Prince Eric to Tyler Reese Tritt’s Ariel the Mermaid at a different Halloween bash.

At 32, the Grammy nominee is a decade older than two-time Grammy winner Travis Tritt’s daughter, who gushed: ‘No tricks just treats! Had such a happy Halloween with all my boos.’   

Carly filed for divorce from Michael in June after only eight months of marriage.

‘I feel like 2020 has shown me what can happen in your career and to your life,’ Pearce said.

‘I am just going into the new year excited about new music, excited about this chapter for me and just feeling really good.’

The Next Girl singer is also still mourning the loss of her Grammy-nominated producer Busbee, who died – age 43 – on September 29, 2019 from brain cancer after producing both her albums.

‘Busbee gave me that gift through that song [I Hope You’re Happy Now],’ Carly told People on Thursday.

‘He made me realize this is the turning point for me…That song, sonically, was everything that I wanted to do musically forever.’

The Hot Tools Professional brand ambassador concluded: ‘Country music has saved my life in 2020.’

Pearce performed the nineties-inspired track Wednesday night onstage Music City Center with Lady A’s Charles Kelley filling in for Lee Brice, who tested positive for the coronavirus on Sunday. 

Carly and her mother Jackie Slusser selected the strapless emerald Retrofete gown fastened with a matching belt that she wore during the CMA Awards ceremony.

‘So proud to say that my mama & I styled this look together this year,’ the blonde beauty – who boasts 880K social media followers – tweeted.

‘What a dream night already.’
