Emily Blunt and Jamie Dornan star in Wild Mountain Thyme’s first trailer

The first trailer for Wild Mountain Thyme was released on Tuesday, with fans hitting out at the cast’s ‘terrible’ Irish accents.

Starring Emily Blunt and Jamie Dornan as neighbouring farmers struggling to find love with each other, the pair are also joined by Christopher Walken and Jon Hamm.

Walken opens the trailer by attempting to use an Irish accent to set the scene, telling viewers about Jamie and Emily’s characters Anthony and Rosemary who are ‘besotted’ but haven’t got together because of the former’s reservation to commit.

The pair are seen chatting together with Jamie musing: ‘There’s these green fields and there’s us,whatever that is it holds me here.’

Emily’s Rosemary is left swooning after her neighbour, as she sighs and gushes: ‘When he says those things…’

But things aren’t going well for Anthony at home, as he is constantly at odds with his father Tony (Walken) who claims: ‘You take after John Kelly, and that man was as mad as the full moon, drowned himself.’

Despite Anthony having plans to propose to Rosemary eventually, Tony is fed up of waiting for his son to take to his responsibilities and offers his farm to Anthony’s American cousin Tommy (Hamm) instead.

It’s not only the farm that Tommy could get his hands on, as he’s seen flirting with Rosemary as Anthony argues with his father about potentially being disinherited.

Telling her he doesn’t ‘wait’ for anything, Rosemary admits she likes that quality in him and he tells her she should come visit him in New York City once.

Rosemary still seems determined to wait for Anthony though, and his father warns her that he’ll ‘never marry’, to which she hits back: ‘If it comes to that I’ll freeze my eggs.’

Tony hits back: ‘You should freeze your whole body if you’re waiting for that one.’

Going ahead with her trip to New York, Rosemary is seen in the Big Apple with Tommy who takes her sightseeing and on a romantic dinner.

Still thinking of Anthony, she asks Tommy: ‘Have you ever had a dream ever since you were a child and you couldn’t let it go?’

He responds: ‘Has your dream made you happy, or miserable?’

Despite her feelings for Anthony, Rosemary does kiss Tommy during her trip which leads to an argument between her and the indecisive farmer.

Tommy criticises the pair for dancing around each other, saying: ‘I don’t understand you people, why do you make everything so hard?’

Despite the film’s comedic nature, fans were not laughing and instead launched a tirade of criticism, namely in reference to the cast’s accents.

One person wrote: ‘As a young irish man, Ill be skipping this becaus, holy f*** Blunt and Walken’s accents are so awful (sic).’

While another hit out: ‘The accents though… could they get any worse (sic).’

And one person jokingly wrote: ‘I am only managing about ten seconds of the Wild Mountain Thyme trailer per attempt and my thoughts and prayers are with all actual Irish people at this difficult time.’

Another viewer claimed: ‘man those accents are painful to hear and I love Walken in most things.. but damn (sic).’
