Today’s Brooke Boney fell into a fit of laughter following a news report about a Gold Coast brothel being on fire on Tuesday morning.

The bubbly 33-year-old went into a bizarre fit of hysterics following a 9am news report about ‘flames burning through a brothel in Bundall’.

The camera panned back to Brooke following the wordplay, who was seen struggling to maintain her composure and unable to talk.

‘It isn’t funny but it kinda is,’ host Karl Stefanovic said, while Allison Langdon herself had a chuckle along with the rest of the team.

Brooke then tried to carry on with her bulletin but was again left in a fit of hysterics, unable to read the script for the bulletin.

Brooke’s muffled laughs could be heard as she tried to regain her composure. At this point, anchor Allison Langdon jumped in to take over.

‘We’ve got a brand new one for you,’ she said as she continued to read the bulletin, before it cut back to Brooke and Karl, who were still laughing .

Allison herself then burst out laughing too. A scene from the new film ‘Happiest Season’ was then played over the anchors.

Brooke finished the segment by revealing she will be part of Matt Moran’s new cooking series.

The Today show has consistently had trouble catching Sunrise in the ratings.

The show has had heavy peaks and lows this year; Today beat Sunrise by 195,000 to 181,000 in total people, across Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane in September.

However, it has still failed to get a convincing, consistent lead over Seven’s powerhouse breakfast show Sunrise for much of the year.
