Love, Victor star Nick Robinson reveals he came down with ‘mild’ case of COVID in March

Love, Victor star Nick Robinson and his girlfriend since April 2019, Samantha Urbani, came down with ‘mild’ cases of coronavirus back in March while in Manhattan.

‘We both got sick,’ the Seattle-born 25-year-old admitted on Variety and iHeart’s podcast The Big Ticket on Monday.

‘Luckily, it was very mild. We had some fevers and we lost our senses of taste and smell. But after that we had tested positive for antibodies, but there are questions about how long that lasts.’

The 33-year-old Made in Love songstress had previously revealed on May 26 that she had ‘antibodies’ to donate.

Nick had to quarantine for two weeks in ‘beautiful Victoria, British Columbia’ before shooting Netflix series Maid based on Stephanie Land’s 2019 memoir.

The Molly Smith Metzler dramedy reunites Robinson with his Native Son leading lady Margaret Qualley and he plays Sean, the ‘unsupportive’ father of her three-year-old daughter.

‘I’m very fortunate to be working right now,’ the former child star said.

‘We’re being extra safe. Everyone on set is tested regularly. Everyone’s wearing a mask. Everyone is in PPE and socially distancing on set. Everyone’s taking it really seriously.

‘Even though the case count is really low, we are in the midst of a global pandemic and everyone hasn’t lost sight of that fact. I think everyone’s also really happy to be back to work so we’re happy to make some sacrifices.’

As of Monday, there are reportedly 17,716 confirmed COVID-19 cases in British Columbia (267K in Canada), which has lead to 276 deaths.

The 26-year-old Emmy nominee’s real-life mother Andie MacDowell plays her character Alex’s wild mom Paula in the show about poverty and America’s welfare system.

But first, audiences can catch Nick as Texan high school senior and soccer team captain Eric Hunter in FX’s 10-episode drama A Teacher, which starts streaming this Tuesday on Hulu.

The dismally-reviewed miniseries – based on creator Hannah Fidells’s 2013 directorial debut – centers on Hunter having an affair with his English teacher Clarie Crystal (Kate Mara).

‘I read the scripts. And I was compelled enough to go back to high school yet again, do another tour,’ Robinson explained.

‘This one felt very different to me. It was not set solely in high school and the subject matter just felt much more mature than the typical high school story. It was a challenge. I thought the role was challenging. The story itself I felt was going to hopefully challenge audiences.’

The NYU drop-out continued: ‘Men internalize abuse differently than women sometimes and there’s a double standard in terms of how society or culture can kind of treat the abuse and sometimes even celebrate it, which the show gets into a little bit and how confusing that can be sometimes for men who feel like they should be happy about the relationship, but have conflicting feelings about it.’
