James, 46, famed for singing hit song, You’re Beautiful, took to the site to inform fans that his new book, How To Be A Complete And Utter Blunt, is out now.

However, Piers, 55, couldn’t resist making a jibe at James when he responded to the tweet by saying: ‘Haven’t we suffered enough this year?’

Known for his biting wit on social media, James quickly wrote back: ‘Maybe the rest of the world has @piersmorgan, but you, I’m not so sure.’

James’ book serves as a look back at some of the star’s best Tweets and also what it takes to become successful on social media.

Piers’ latest book Wake Up, is a critique of ‘woke’ culture and made the Sunday Times Bestseller List at the end of last month.

The singer recently poked fun at the pair both releasing their books in October, writing on Twitter: ‘Looks like 2020 just brought you the biggest battle since @Blur vs. @Oasis. To the death @piersmorgan’.

It comes after James made an appearance on Thursday’s episode of This Morning where he discussed his book.

James told hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield he has learned to hold back more when using social media.

He said: ‘The thing with Twitter, people can be quite horrid to each other. Rather than immediately respond, it’s much better to wait a bit.

‘Usually what I do is I read out my reply to my wife and if she shakes her head in horror, I know it’s a good one and I send it.’

He added: ‘People [on Twitter] express their opinions as if they’re fact. I really try and only go on it once a month. People are much nicer when you interact face to face.’

James explained that if he ever does get into a disagreement with someone online, he messages them privately to check they know it’s all in good fun.

He said: ‘Often if I reply to someone, I direct message them and I say, hey I hope this is all in good humour and lets not take it too seriously and lets all be friends.

‘Rather than just being horrible about it, try and reach out and be friendly about it.’

The star also discussed having to postpone his tour after he was forced to cancel several shows earlier this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

He said: ‘I was on a world tour and we got as far as Germany. It was incredible to see the virus follow us around.

‘The Italian shows being cancelled, France. We all headed home and postponed the tour until March 2021, vaccine dependent I suppose.’
