Gwyneth Paltrow sells £45,000 sustainably-sourced, ‘climate neutral’ bed on lifestyle site Goop – and the mattress alone will set you back £25,000

Gwyneth Paltrow is selling a £45,000 sustainably-sourced bed on her lifestyle site Goop.
The actress turned health guru, 48, is advertising the ‘climate neutral certified’ piece, crafted by bespoke LA-based bedmaker Avocado, online.
The beds, which range in price from £30,000 ($38,835) to £45,000 ($58,252) in total, are made-to-order in three months, with the mattress alone costing a whopping £25,000 ($32,000).
Online, the piece was described by the starlet as ‘ridiculous but awesome’, with the description reading: ‘Rest assured, this is the trip to the moon of beds.’

The Goop website reads: ‘We applied incredibly luxurious, ethically sourced GOTS-certified organic materials to a need that’s as essential as food, air, and water: sleep.’
Praising the quality of the bed as well as the craftsmanship behind it, it goes on: ‘Its custom support is the result of unparalleled craftsmanship, made using a circular manufacturing process that’s as good for us as it is for the planet.
‘So if it’s an out-of-this-world experience on a climate-neutral bespoke mattress you’re after, this is it.’
Avocado, the company behind the bed, are on an unique eco-friendly mission to be carbon-negative, meaning that they are offsetting more carbon than they generate.

The company has been making a name for itself in the world of sustainable furniture making, having won the Good Housekeeping ‘Sustainable Innovation award’ for 2020.
The Goop beds are made of 29 layers of sustainably sourced and organic materials, which include pure latex and heritage wool from the Goop farms in India and cashmere from royal alpaca from the Peruvian Andes.
Other layers include coco fiber from the temperate zones of Asia, “non-violent” organic silk and recycled steel coils lashed together.
Meanwhile the frame is made from reclaimed wood, with handmade springs in organic cotton pockets offering the bed support and comfort.

It takes 12 craftsmen to put on bed together in two to three months with Gwyenth praising the bed as ‘standard-shattering, certified-organic, made-to-order sleep system that beautifully blurs the lines between next-level comfort and sustainability.’
Goop, founded in 2008, is known for stocking products that raise eyebrows.
On top of the bed nearing £50,000, Gwyneth is also selling luxury accessories, including £272 sustainable pillows, a cashmere blanket for £1,440, £490 sheets and a £588 duvet cover.
