Line of Duty’s Vicky McClure and Martin Compston relax in Hastings’ office during series six filming

Line of Duty series six: Vicky McClure and Martin Compston risk the wrath of Superintendent Hastings as they mess around in his office during filming

They’ve been hard at work filming the much-anticipated sixth series after production was delayed by COVID-19.

But Line Of Duty’s Vicky McClure and Martin Compston risked the fury of Superintendent Hastings on Wednesday as they enjoyed some downtime in his office in hilarious on-set snaps.

In snaps shared by series creator Jed Mercurio, the duo messed around by popping their feet up on the coffee table and posing by Hastings’ desk between scenes.

Jed shared the collection of snaps from the set as the cast prepared to shoot a scene in the middle of the AC-12 office.

Martin was decked out on his signature waistcoat to play Detective Sergeant Steve Arnott, and appeared to be in the midst of a tense explanation.

But once the scene was wrapped both he and Vicky (Detective Inspector Kate Fleming) enjoyed a spot of downtime in Hastings’ (played by Adrian Dunbar) office, laughing as they posed by ‘the gaffer’s’ desk.

Jed captioned the snaps: ‘When the cat’s away… they wouldn’t dare if the Gaffer was in.’

The crew were careful to adhere to COVID-19 guidelines as they were seen wearing face masks.

Earlier this month, Line Of Duty fans claimed to have pointed out a ‘huge spoiler’ after show creator Jed shared a snap from filming.

The writer took to Twitter to share a collection of photos of DS Steve Arnott, Ted Hastings and DI Kate Fleming, as they playfully posed on set.

Yet eagle-eyed fans were quick to point out that DS Steve Arnott had lost his ‘sergeant stripes’ from his uniform as they questioned whether he had been demoted or was going undercover.

Elsewhere other fans came up with another bizarre theory as they noted Ted Hastings was stood in front of a piece of graffiti which had the letter H.

Posting a zoomed in picture with a red ring around it, a Line Of Duty fan commented: ‘Massive spoilers on wall.’

In the most recent series five finale, creator Jed dropped the bombshell there was not just one super villain H but four caddies.

Steve discovered the vital clue when a clip of DI Matthew ‘Dot’ Cottan’s dying declaration was played during AC-12 boss Ted Hasting’s interrogation with Patricia Carmichael (Anna Maxwell-Martin),

Line Of Duty resumed filming in September after a five-month hiatus during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The BBC police drama suspended shooting for series six back in March, but leading actor Martin returned to set to shoot socially-distanced scenes last month.

Show creator Jed thanked fans for their ‘patience’ and assured that the cast and crew are aiming to have the sixth season back on air ‘as soon as possible’.
