Eva Mendes reveals she ‘never wanted babies’ until she met Ryan Gosling

Eva Mendes has admitted she never wanted to have children until she met her longtime partner, Ryan Gosling.

The 46-year-old actress told Australian radio show Fitzy & Wippa on Friday that it was only after she fell in love with the La La Land star, 39, that she even considered starting a family.

‘I never wanted babies before until I fell in love with Ryan, and it kind of worked out to where I was 40 and having my first baby, I think I was 42 for the second one,’ she explained.

Eva began dating Ryan in 2011, after meeting on set of The Place Beyond the Pines.

They share two daughters, Esmeralda, six, and Amada, four, and Eva has now walked away from Hollywood to focus on being a mother.

But before having children, the Hitch star was completely consumed by her career.   

‘It worked out in that way that I had a career and that then I change my focus to my family,’ she said, adding that she’s now ready to return to acting.

‘So now I’m thinking of definitely going back, I feel like it’s time… The list is getting shorter and shorter of stuff that I do. I don’t want to do anything violent, nothing risqué. I think the only thing that’s left is Disney!’

Both Eva and Ryan are extremely private when it comes their family life, but in an interview with Access Daily last year, she did speak candidly about parenthood.

‘Oh gosh, it’s so fun and beautiful and maddening. It’s maddening,’ she said.

‘It’s so hard, of course. But it’s like that feeling of like, really, you end your day, you put them to bed, and Ryan and I kind of look at each other like, “We did it, we did it. We came out relatively unscathed, you know?”‘

She added that they ‘have a lot of family support’, which make raising kids easier.
