‘Armed police’ put St Thomas’s Hospital on lockdown and shut Westminster Bridge over ‘security alert’

A London hospital has been placed on lockdown and Westminster Bridge has been shut over a ‘security alert’.

‘Armed police’ rushed to St Thomas’ Hospital near Waterloo today and have blocked the River Thames crossing in both directions.

Witnesses claimed there were armed police present at the incident and that the hospital was not allowing people to enter or leave.

Others reported being ‘pushed back out’ to the bridge near Parliament, which has also been closed to pedestrians.
