Police hunt male suspect on a bike after three women are stabbed in separate attacks in Belfast in less than two hours

  • The three women are thought to have been attacked by a single male last night
  • They were stabbed in three separate attacks as they walked along city streets
  • Police are hunting a male suspect who was riding a bike at the time of attacks

Three women have been taken to hospital after a man apparently went on a stabbing spree in Belfast city centre.

Officers said the three victims were attacked in separate incidents over the course of two hours while walking along city streets.

They are thought to have been attacked by a man riding a bike.

He is also suspected of punching another woman in the neck in a fourth attack.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland said the first incident took place on Ormeau Avenue at around 8.10pm on Monday.

A second attack was reported at around 9pm on Donegall Square West, followed by a third on University Road at around 10pm.

The victims’ injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

South Belfast MP Claire Hanna said the attacks were appalling.

‘Nobody should feel unsafe on the streets of Belfast and the local community are shocked and upset at this attack,’ she said.

‘I urge anyone with any information to come forward to the PSNI.’

Officers said a male suspect was riding a bike and have asked anyone with information to contact them on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
