The first pictures have emerged of a four-year-old boy who was killed as he crossed the road with his mother.

The youngster, named locally as Agarwin Sasikaran, was hit by a car on Uxbridge Road, Hayes, west London just before 7pm last night.

Agarwin was at a pelican crossing with his mother when he ‘darted into the road’ and was hit by a vehicle at around 7pm on Sunday night.

The family had just been to a nearby KFC takeaway and were heading home when the tragedy took place.

Agarwin had just started full-time school last month and would have turned five in December.

Ambulances rushed to the scene in Hayes, west London, but Agarwin could not be saved and he was pronounced dead in hospital yesterday morning.

Police said the driver of the vehicle involved stopped at the scene, but was not arrested.

A family friend, who did not want to be named, said: ‘It’s so sad, his family are distraught.

‘He was waiting with his mum at the crossing, she pressed the button and was waiting, but he ran out and was hit.

‘They had just gone to get KFC because he was hungry and he was just excited to get home.’

Flowers and a picture of Agarwin have been fixed to the railings nearby where he was struck down on the busy main road.

Yesterday his parents, who live just yards from where their son was killed, were said to be too distraught to speak.

A relative who answered the door said: ‘They [Agarwin’s parents] don’t want to say anything at the moment; we are all so sad, it’s such an awful thing to have happened.

‘It’s a 40mph limit on that road, but so many cars go much too fast, often much faster than the speed limit. It really needs to be stopped or more children will also be killed.’
