Marty Sheargold was ‘frog-marched’ out of Nova FM’s headquarters after quitting the national drive show, claims Sam Pang

Marty Sheargold completed his final radio show for Nova FM last month, after announcing in July that he was leaving the station.

And comedian Sam Pang joked on Monday that Marty had been ‘frog-marched’ out of Nova’s headquarters after handing in his resignation.

Sam, 46, who also works for Nova, brought up his former colleague’s departure on panel show Have You Been Paying Attention?

‘It’s come up a couple of times about Marty leaving Nova – of course we used to work there together,’ Sam said. 

‘And people say that he left of his own accord… frog-marched out of the building is another way to put it,’ Sam said. 

Marty, who was a guest appears on HYBPA? on Monday, laughed at the joke.

Sam went on to say that he recently stole a cardboard cut-out of Marty from work and took it home because he ‘misses’ him. 

Last month, Marty, 49, downplayed rumours that he could be heading to Triple M after leaving Nova.

He told Radio Today: ‘I’ll be happy to go out for dinner by then, let alone any kind of gainful employment.’

Radio Today reported that the major podcast networks had also denied plans to hire free agent Marty.

The Herald Sun had previously reported that Marty in talks to join Triple M’s Hot Breakfast, hosted by Eddie McGuire and Luke Darcy, next year. 

Marty was replaced on the Kate, Tim & Marty show by comedian Joel Creasey. The show has since been rechristened Kate, Tim & Joel.

He shocked fans in July when he announced he was leaving Nova national drive show, Kate, Tim and Marty.

During the announcement, he explained to his co-hosts Kate Ritchie and Tim Blackwell that he ‘spent the last ‘four or five months tossing up’ what to do in 2021. 

‘Kate, Tim and Marty will no longer feature Marty at the end of the day,’ he said on-air. ‘Thank you to the network for having me, putting up with me.

‘Over the last four or five months I’ve been tossing up what I’d like to do in 2021, and what I’ve decided to do is leave the show,’ he added.

In an official statement, Marty thanked his co-hosts for their support in his decision.
