Celebrity Apprentice: Martha Kalifatidis is trolled over announcement

‘Saddest, lowest form of human’: MAFS’ Michael Brunelli blasts trolls who hurled shocking abuse at his girlfriend Martha Kalifatidis for joining the cast of Celebrity Apprentice

Married At First Sight’s Michael Brunelli has defended his girlfriend, Martha Kalifatidis, after vile trolls posted nasty comments about her joining the cast of Celebrity Apprentice.

Martha, 32, was announced on Sunday as one of the 13 celebrities taking part in the Channel Nine reality show hosted by British billionaire Lord Alan Sugar.

Shortly after the line-up was revealed on social media, school teacher-turned-personal trainer Michael, 29, addressed some of the trolling he’d seen directed at his partner.

Michael hit out at the trolls with a lengthy message, writing: ‘I don’t normally get sucked into this stuff but the comments on this post are pure filth.

‘They are from the saddest, lowest form of humans in Australia.’

He added: ‘Bullying someone for going on TV to RAISE MONEY for a charity. I’m done with the Internet today.’

Some of the tamer comments described Martha as ‘entitled’ and a ‘wannabe’, while one critic said they would be ‘switching to Channel Seven’.

But she also had plenty of support, with fans hitting back at the hateful comments while praising Martha for joining the show to raise money for charity.

In a video shared to Instagram on Sunday, Martha said: ‘I am so excited to announce I am going to be on Celebrity Apprentice, so make sure to tune in and watch.

‘Obviously, I’ll bring the drama… It’s basically 2016 again and I’m in the principal’s office, except the principal is Lord Sugar, and he is not sugar-coating it.’

She will join the likes of Michelle Bridges, Michael ‘Wippa’ Wipfli, and Olympic gymnast Olivia Vivian in the competitive show.

Martha, who has more than 350,000 followers on Instagram, will no doubt use her social media savvy to help her win challenges.

Lord Sugar reprises his role as the fearsome CEO from the British series as he puts the celebrity contestants to the test with business-related tasks.

Martha and Michael first met on the sixth season of Married At First Sight.
