The Prom photos offer a first look at Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman and the young stars

With just over two months left before The Prom arrives on Netflix, director Ryan Murphy offered new photos and poster from his upcoming movie.

The filmmaker had previously shared photos of himself posing with his cast, but he took to Instagram on Wednesday to share some official pics from the film.

‘IT’S TIME TO DANCE – Your first look at #TheProm is here! Join me and this incredible all-star cast for the holiday event of the season —coming to Netflix December 11,’ Murphy said in the caption of his Instagram post.

The film, based on the 2016 Broadway musical of the same name, follows Broadway stars Dee Dee Allen (Meryl Streep) and Barry Glickman (James Corden), whose Broadway play about Eleanor Roosevelt is deemed a career-ending failure.

Seeking a cause they can throw their support behind, to revitalize their names, they head to a small Indiana town to advocate for a high school student named Emma (Jo Ellen Pellman), who is told by her Indiana school board she cannot attend prom with her girlfriend Alyssa (Ariana DeBose).

Allen and Glickman are joined by Angie (Nicole Kidman) and Trent (Andrew Rannells)  to advocate for Emma, but when their activism fails, they all band together to give Emma and Alyssa the night they deserve.

Murphy also shared a snap of what could be the end of a big musical number, with Ellen, dressed in a powder blue tuxedo, raising her hand triumphantly with Alyssa in a stylish purple dress, with several characters celebrating around them.

The next photo features Alyssa standing in front of a mirror with her mother, played by Kerry Washington.

The final image features Barry, Angie and Dee Dee all smiling, alongside Mr. Hawkins (Keegan Michael Key), the high school principal.
